Including a visit to the Traditional Village

The Traditional Village is open for business 16 hours a day from the season start till the season finish.
We invite you to think of our village as an opportunity to offer you traditional hospitality in the heart of the island.

We envisage the Traditional Village as a stopping-off point on many different excursions.
For example:

1. Simply (Rural) Crete
Provide yourself with an early breakfast stop of coffee, Cretan pies, yogurt and honey or a later break for raki, wine and appetizers.

2. Lassithi Plateau
Make your program in reverse, starting with Mochos, then on to the plateau and Kera before finishing for lunch at Kato Karouzana.

3. South Crete
Instead of covering the same ground twice, make a beautiful round trip, heading south through Crete’s viniculture center
(stopping for coffee at the Traditional Village) and returning via the Messara plain and Heraklion .

4. Jeep safari
Touring by means of jeep, is a particularly active way to approach and discover nature. The Traditional Village is an ideal place to stop off for breakfast, lunch or a late lunch with refreshments.
We provide parking for up to 150 jeeps, a beautiful environment, wine tasting facilities, many touring places and the opportunity to take a stroll around a typical Cretan village.
Instead of a picnic lunch, stop at the Traditional Village for a breath and just for an inexpensive lunch served with wine.

A few examples for jeep safari roots:
Suggestion 1
From the main highway take the Kastelli exit, stop off at the Traditional Village for a Cretan breakfast, continue through Kasteli to Thrapsanos to see Cretan Pythos being made, drive to Peza via Agia Paraskevi to see wine production, then for some off-roading to the south of Crete via Avli, Skinias to Tsoutsouros for a swim.
Suggestion 2
Start from Tsoutsouros and make this trip in reverse, stopping off at the Traditional Village for a fabulous lunch and wine tasting or even later for a Greek night and dinner.
Suggestion 3
From the main highway from Agios Nikolaos, drive up to Dikteon cave to visit Zeus birthplace, continue through Lassithi plateau to the Traditional Village for a fabulous lunch and wine tasting, continuing down to Ano Vianos to the south of Crete. From Mournies drive off-road to Exakousti Monastery, over to Kalo Horio ending up in Agios Nikolaos.

5. Walking tours and special interest groups.
We provide assistance for tour leaders.

6. In combination with Aqua Splash excursions.
After splashing about in the new water park, drive 7 Kms further into the Cretan heartland for lunch and refreshments.

One can incorporate the Traditional Village in any excursion covering the areas between Heraklion and Aghios Nikolaos.
